Presentation API's Overview
The Presentation API is an experimental technology that allows web browsers to effectively display web content through large presentation devices such as projectors and network-connected televisions. It supports both wired and wireless multimedia devices, including HDMI, DVI, DLNA, Chromecast, AirPlay, and Miracast. The API enables web developers to implement the interaction between the controller page and the receiver page by providing a message-based channel. Depending on the connection mechanism, the controller and receiver pages can be loaded by the same user agent or separate user agents. The API includes interfaces such as Presentation, PresentationRequest, PresentationAvailability, PresentationConnectionAvailableEvent, PresentationConnection, PresentationConnectionCloseEvent, PresentationReceiver, and PresentationConnectionList. The Presentation API can be used to monitor the availability of presentation displays, start a new presentation, reconnect to a presentation, initiate a presentation by the controlling user agent, monitor the connection state, and exchange data between the controller and receiver pages. Examples of usage are provided. This API is an experimental technology and should be used with caution.
